CREW!!

What magnificent weather for our annual Advisor's Day surprise excursion! Everyone showed up at the church in good time (Adrian was early again!) and we were soon off to our secret destination in the NE Ga. mountains. Speculation abounded on our activity for the day, especially after we passed a riding stable a few miles before our stop, but when we pulled into the driveway for Sunburst Stables all was revealed. We quickly got our paperwork completed, had a quick session on basic horse riding techniques, and were on our way. Our trek took us deep into a national forest on just a glorious, autumn morning. Bright blue skies and cool temperatures. The horses were fine animals, well trained, and in good condition. Even with the mountainous trail we got to break out into a nice trot on several occasions. Fred's horse distinguished himself with some amazing staccato gas. Unfortunately, I was directly behind him on some up hills when it happened. Fred's horse also insisted on passing Charles which was ok by me at that point. Charles got in some pretty good bouncing early but settled in well by the end of the trek. Craig seemed like such a natural cow hand that he was practically offered a job.Adrian, Nisha, Lara, Clare, and Kathy looked every inch the elegant riders although Adrian stayed out of her stirrups a good bit and Nisha reports a bit of bruising as an aftermath of the trip. Might be a little post-trip soreness scattered around the group but, all in all, well worth it. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. Next year, who knows? Hot air ballooning? Mountain boarding? Quilting? Be there!
