We had a great weekend on the Rafting trip. Sat. we were on the river early despite some overcast, cool weather which allowed us to beat a lot of the crowd that came in later in the day. Once on the river, the weather could not have been better. We had three rafts without guides. Paul, Travis, Chris and Jake had much fun cutting doughnuts but perhaps not as much fun doing flips. I'll let them explain or play the "blame game". You be the judge. Ross went swimming a few times. I heard it was unintentional. We hiked Sat. afternoon at Joyce Kilmer. Beautiful old growth trees. One was so large that it took five of us linking hands to reach around it. Both a highlight and a low point of the trip involved food. The Mengaks prepared home made spaghetti sauce from a secret family recipe for Fri. night. Yum. Sat. morning's breakfast put Shoney's breakfast buffet to shame, both in quality and quantity. Lunch was terrific as well. The negative was the restaurant on the way home. It was SLOW, SLOW, SLOW which pushed us back until 11:30 getting to the church.
All in all, a great trip. Thanks to all who participated. A special thanks to Chris for organizing things so well and to Mike for the use of his family cabin, vehicle, help and advice. Great job, guys.
